Thomas (Tom) Kelter passed away quietly on September 21, 2026 after a long battle with Alzheimers. Tom was Born in Calgary on July 23, 1939.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife Connie of 23 years. Two sons, one daughter and two stepsons. Lindy Fee (Lyle), Tim Kelter (Susan), Gordon Kelter. Stepsons Darren Fischer (Shanyn) and Corey Fischer (Candace). Eight grandchildren, Tyler and Brooklyn Fee, Tyson Kelter, Owen, Theo, Oona and Remi Fischer and Maisie Fischer. Sister Linda Richardson (Terry), Brother Ted Kelter (Ronalda). Uncles Don Patton (Anne), Ken Patton as well as a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Tom was predeceased by first wife Carol Kelter, parents Bill and Ada Kelter, daughter-in-law Angela Kelter and granddaughter Carolyn Kelter.

Tom will be lovingly remembered for his kind heart, generous spirit, and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever someone needed it.

He had many passions throughout his life, especially hunting and fishing. He enjoyed the outdoors and the time spent making memories with family on memorable vacations in Hawaii, Mexico and Dominican Republic.

A true handyman, Tom was skilled in carpentry, plumbing and just about anything else that needed fixing. If you needed something, chances were Tom had the tools or parts for it in his garage - and if he didn’t he would find a way to help. His knowledge, resourcefulness and willingness to lend a hand will be deeply missed.

Tom began his working career with Canadian Western Natural Gas, now Atco, before joining the Calgary Fire Department in 1964. He dedicated 30 years to the department, retiring as a Captain in December 1995. His commitment to serving others was an important part of who he was.

Tom was also instrumental in bringing Casinos to Alberta to support Gaming for Charitable Organizations in order to raise funds for important causes.

He was part of Kelter’s Plumbing Supplies before the company was purchased by Main Plumbing Supplies, adding another chapter to his hardworking career.

Christmas held a very special place in Tom’s heart. He loved the magic of the season and for many years was Santa’s helper on Christmas Eve. Bringing joy to others was something he truly enjoyed.

Tom was also a proud member of the Masonic Lodge along side his Dad.

Attending the Salvation Army with his Mom & Dad was a memorable part of his life.

He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Calgary Fire Department Burn Treatment Unit or the Alberta Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at 2:00pm, All Saints Anglican Church, 404 Fourth Ave W, Cochrane, Alta.
